The SDGs are 17 goals set out by the United Nations (UN) that address global issues surrounding climate change, social challenges, and other inequalities. The end hope for these interconnected goals is to achieve a future that is more sustainable and better for all. These issues can’t be solved by just one organization, but can be accomplished if we band together as a global community. This is why we’ve selected the following 4 of the SDGs to work to achieving:
3 / Good Health and Well Being
How we’re accomplishing this goal:
- Creating products that are meant to improve your health and well-being
- Making sure our products are vegan, non-GMO, gluten free and contain low to no sugar
- Providing a healthy gummy snack alternative to high sugar candies
Risks of hindering the achievement of this SDG:
- Zero to low risk: The nature of our business is to make products that are both good for people and the planet. Our gummies are designed to be a healthy way to supplement your diet while supporting overall health improvement
Ways to Improve:
- Create new products that help people with different aspects of their health
- Improve our gummy formulas to make our products even more optimal for good health

11 / Sustainable Cities and Communities
How we’re accomplishing this goal:
- Supporting our local and global communities through partnerships (volunteer work, monetary donation, in-kind donations, and social advocacy) with charities, NGOs, and other grass root organization
- Annual Herbalnd Community Scholarship to aid students with furthering their studies
Risks of hindering the achievement of this SDG:
- Decreasing support provided to our community partners due to financial restraints
Ways to Improve:
- Increasing donations, volunteering and advocacy for our community partners
- Creating of a Herbaland charity that has its own capacity to work directly with our community members
- Increasing the total Herbaland Community Scholarship amount

12 / Responsible Consumption and Production
13 / Climate Action
How we’re accomplishing this goal:
- Creating vegan gummies that use pectin instead of gelatin, lowering the environmental impact of our products
- Using energy/resource efficient Eco-Forming Technology during production
- Becoming Radicle Climate Smartcertified.
- Packaging our gummies in compostable packaging instead of plastic bottles, decreasing our plastic pollution production
- For every pouch of gummies we sell, we plant one tree, supporting a restorative economy!
- Partnering with like-minded organizations that value sustainability, such as UBC Sustainability, Ocean Wise and more, to empower a collective action against climate change.
- Sponsoring 100 e-bikes with Mobi by Shaw, as a part of their bike share program
- Selling products to zero-waste stores and refilleries.Â
Risks of hindering the achievement of this SDG:
- Not following through with our goals to minimize carbon emissions from production
- Compostable pouches not being properly composted, as shown through a QR code on our packaging
- Poor inventory management
- Irresponsible supply chain management
Ways to Improve:
- Follow emission reducing strategies to reach our goals set out by Radicle.Â
- Increase education on how to compost Herbaland packaging
- Optimize inventory management to reduce over production and waste
